Another Event...Another Success!
Fri 04 Apr 2025On Thursday 3rd April, we came together as a school to celebrate the wonderful half-termly homework that pupils had brought into school.
All of the children had been set the challenge of putting Mr Gallagher under pressure to find enough tables in school to display all of the homework for children and parents and carers to see. The children were successful with children in Fir class continually asking Mr Gallagher if he was ok as he ran around the hall frantically getting more tables in place!
As always, we were blown away by the quality of the homework and a lot of it has been put on display around school for all to see. We will be taking a break from half-termly homework projects next half-term but look forward to seeing what children create in the final half-term of the year when there will be a whole-school theme to the tasks the teachers set.
All of the staff wanted to say a huge well done to all of the boys and girls who brought in homework and thank you for making the wonderful event possible.

Choir in Sheffield - Young Voices Concert
Wed 12 Feb 2025Our Borrow Wood choir is currently rehearsing at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield for a concert tonight.
There about 5,000 children here singing and dancing. Tonight there will be a live audience that they will perform to.
It is a fantastic event and opportunity for the children to experience performing as part of a huge choir to an audience - it is loud but there is a lot of jigging, singing and smiling!
Thank you to Mrs Wadsworth who has offered her time willingly for months to run the choir club and organise participation in events like this for the children. Also thank you to our parent helpers and Mr Martinson for also giving of their time.

Cedar are Champions!
Mon 10 Feb 2025I am delighted to be able to share that Cedar Class managed to pip Fir Class to the post and have been crowned winners of this half-term's Times Table Rockstar tournament.
The result was shared in our Star Award assembly today and was met with a very enthusiastic celebration from Mr Saeed. When asked to comment on his class's performance, Mr Saeed suggested that he was over the moon and that if he could choose between Derby County or Cedar Class being crowned champions of their respective leagues, he would always choose Cedar Class!
The tournament will take a break for a short while and return in the summer. The children can continue to access Times Table Rockstar in the meantime.

Times Table Rockstar - Too Close To Call!
Fri 31 Jan 2025Since the start of the school year, the boys and girls in Key Stage 2 have had the opportunity to take part in the Times Table Rockstar Championship which sees the six classes pitted against each other on a weekly basis.
Up until very recently, Fir Class had been running away with the championship and had built up a lead that everyone thought could not be caught. However, in the last two weeks, Cedar Class have come out of nowhere and have moved from sixth to second place and are now in touching distance of Fir Class who are looking nervously over their shoulder.
The competition will run for the next two weeks with the winning class being crowned in an assembly. There is still plenty of time for points to be earned with the competition heating up!

Half-Termly Homework Celebration Event
Fri 20 Dec 2024We came together as a school yesterday to celebrate the incredible half-termly homework that pupils brought into school. As a staff we were blown away by how many homework tasks had been brought into school - it was easily the most we had ever received and the standard was as high as ever.
Miss Z Fletcher and Mr Gallagher spent time putting as much of the homework as they could on display around school. Extra tables were found to display models and display boards have been filled with as much work as could fit on the board.
All of the staff wanted to say a huge well done to all of the boys and girls who brought in homework and thank you for making the wonderful event possible.

Fri 21 Jun 2024We have had a fabulous day out!
The weather has finally smiled on us with the sun shining and no hint of rain. The children have been to Eyam church and learnt about the plague and walked to the boundary stone where the villagers left money soaked in vinegar to pay for food that was brought to the stone by the villagers in Stoney Middleton. The children’s behaviour has been exemplary and we couldn’t be prouder.

D.T. Club
Tue 07 May 2024Last term Miss Rutland ran a D.T Club for key stage 1. The children designed and made marble runs from recycled materials. We had a lot of fun making, decorating and testing the runs. Here are some pictures of the children and their finished games. The club was small but hard working and benefitted from the support of Mr Massey and ex Borrowwood pupil Molly, volunteering as part of her Duke of Edinburgh award. Miss Rutland hopes to extend the club next year to include pupils from key stage 2.

Local MP Visit
Fri 15 Sep 2023Pauline Latham MP visited Borrow Wood today. In the summer term, Pauline had written to school to congratulate us on our Ofsted report.
In response I invited her into school to see our 'outstanding' Borrow Wood children and the work that they do.
Pauline was very impressed by the behaviour and attitudes of the children and commented on the fantastic art work around school.
