'SNOW DAY' Protocol
It is for the head teacher to decide whether school should close or not open taking into account the safety and well-being of both pupils and staff.
If the decision needs to be taken during working hours, the head teacher will contact the Trust Central Team for advice and support.
The decision to close will be based on severity and scale of snow and the impact on the health and safety of pupils and staff.
If school is not going to open, parents/carers will be contacted via the school text messaging service informing them of this decision. A phone call will also be made to Radio Derby and a news notification placed on the school website.
If the school needs to close during the school day, parents/carers will be contacted via the school text messaging service informing them that they should collect their children as soon as possible. Provision will be made for those children whose parents are unable to collect before the end of school.
