No Soup Movement today!
This week is mental wellbeing week which is all about looking after our emotions and doing things that make us feel positive. Reading is an important skill to have and it is important to be able to show a good understanding of books. However, sometimes it is nice to read for fun and enjoyment! This is called reading for pleasure. So, today your task is to do exactly that! Find a book that you love - this could be a book from home, an Oxford Owl book or a book that you've listened to online. It might be a new book or a book you've read before; fiction or non-fiction. Read as much of the text as you wish and then just write down a few sentences (this does not need to be in your reading book) explaining why you enjoy this text so much and why it feels nice to read it. This afternoon we might get a chance to share some of these which I am really looking forward to! Enjoy! :)
Time: 9.30am - 9.50am
Resources: Handwriting book, pencil.
We are doing words beginning with the letter g today. Please practice the words attached to this assignment in your handwriting book. A full line of each please!
Take your time and take care with all of the joins. Handwriting is not a race! If you do finish on time, choose 2 words that begin with g or have the letter g in them and practise writing these.
Time: 9.50am - 10.10am
Resources: Blue maths journal, pencil, purple pen, ruler, powerpoint slides.
Please open the attached powerpoint to see today's maths warm up (arithmetic) questions. Complete these as you normally would with the subheadings and the short date.
After each slide of questions you will see the next slide is the answers. You will need to mark your own work and make your corrections with your purple pen.

Topic - Rivers
Time: 11.15am - 12.00pm
Resources: Pencil, a device to watch the lesson video
This week we are going to be looking at the importance of rivers. Rivers are important for many different reasons and we are going to explore some of these today.
To help you understand and to complete today's task, we are going to follow a video which will explain all of the learning, as well as the 3 short tasks you will need to complete. Watch this at your own pace and feel free to pause it whenever you need. The teacher will explain some new vocabulary to you. If you are unsure of what it means after they've explained, take some time to find the definition of these words, as they will be very useful in today's learning.
Please complete the 3 tasks in your topic book under the date and title:
Date: Wednesday 3rd February 2021
Title: Why are rivers important
Challenge: if you complete all 3 tasks, please pick a local river (a river nearby - somewhere in England) and find out 3 reasons why this river is particularly important.
Time: 1:00pm - 1:40 pm
Resources: some paper (your jotter will be fine!) access to a device for the video, PowerPoint
Here you will find our first well-being task. It is a virtual lesson for you to watch and join in with. Open the PowerPoint FIRST and read the first couple of slides before clicking the link and joining in the BBC lesson.
Take your time. If this takes you longer than the 40 minutes set then that's fine :)
Time 1:40pm - 2:00pm
Have a go at some of the calming techniques on the well-being cards. Find which ones you enjoy and which ones work for you!
