Summary Description

We are seeking to appoint a Site Manager to work alongside the School Business Manager to ensure the school premises are maintained to a high standard and meet all health and safety requirements.

The Site Manager will be expected to:

  • Have significant practical skills as you will spend a significant proportion of time involved in practical site activities such as DIY, general repairs, painting and decorating
  • Have a ‘hands on’, ‘can do’ attitude and lead by example
  • Undertake general repairs and maintenance around the premises, both inside and out
  • Undertake occasional cleaning tasks during the school day and holidays, as required
  • Maintain site security
  • Manage the premises and grounds and demonstrate a sound knowledge of health and safety regulations required for the post e.g. water hygiene, fire safety, COSHH
  • Ensure the site is clean, safe and welcoming to pupils, staff and visitors, reflecting pride in the school
  • Liaise with the Head teacher, School Business Manager, external contractors and other staff members
  • Be flexible, thrive on variety and be adaptable to change
  • Be willing to contribute ideas and solutions to problems
  • Demonstrate good ICT, literacy and numeracy skills for accurate record keeping and communication
  • Relate well to children and staff and interact with them in a friendly and positive manner.

There will be some late working for meetings and events for which flexibility is essential.

The Site Manager is expected to attend to emergencies outside of school hours.

A full driving licence and car is essential.

Previous experience as a Site Manager, or in the building trade, is desirable.


The post is 37.5 hours per week, all year round and includes 25 days paid holiday per year. This increases to 31 days after 5 years’ service (September to August). Holidays are taken during school holiday periods.

When required and in agreement with the Site Leadership team, overtime is available to meet additional workloads and the demands of special projects.
