Reading Task (9 - 9:25am)

-Write the long date in your English book and underline it with a ruler. Friday 29th January.

-Today we are going to learn about apostrophes. An apostrophe looks like this:

 

-There are two different ways of using apostrophes. Today we are going to learn about apostrophes for possession. This means showing that something belongs to someone. We can show this with an apostrophe s.

-Write your own sentences about Bob using an apostrophe 's' for possession.

-If you get stuck, use the pictures below to help you. If you would like a challenge, include the ambitious vocabulary as well as an apostrophe in each sentence.

-Write the long date into your topic book and underline it with a ruler. Friday 29th January.

This week, we are going to make our own 'Kindness Cup'.

-What is kindness? Talk about this with your adult.

-How can we show kindness to other people?

-How does it make other people feel when you are kind?

-Look at the kindness cup. You can use the sheet below, or write your acts of kindness into your topic book. Remember to use your best cursive handwriting. Each day, complete an act of kindness, then colour in a stripe on your cup and write what you have done. If you are writing the acts of kindness into your topic book, draw and colour in a picture to go with each act of kindness.

-Here are some ideas:

  • Giving away some toys or clothes you dont need anymore to charity.

  • Helping a younger sibling with homework.

  • Making a thank you card for a family member.

  • Sharing toys with your brother or sister.

  • Tidying up.

  • Putting water or seed out for birds.

  • Planting some wildflower seeds for bees/butterflies.

Maths Live Input (1:10pm - 1:30pm)

Log in to Teams for 20 minutes of maths input. 

 

Maths Task (1:35 - 2:30pm)

Today we will complete pages 152, 153 and 154 in the Power Maths book (Unit 5: Multiplication and division, Lesson 7). Use the strategies that we shared on Teams. When you have finished, send some photos of your work to Mrs Ball so that she can give you some feedback. If you finish Power Maths and fancy a challenge, have a go at the task below in your maths journal.

Weekly diary entry and golden time (2:30 - 3:05pm)

Please write a short diary entry explaining your favourite parts of the week, and anything you have struggled with. Please write these each Friday in the BACK of your pink English books - make sure you write and underline the date! Friday 29th January.

When you have finished the diary entry, enjoy some golden time. 

Optional Year 2 assembly (3:05-3:15)

 

We are having a Year 2 assembly so that the children learning from home have the opportunity to see the their friends learning in school. 

We will be starting at 15:05pm and finishing at 15:15pm.
